Our Proposal

  • A new 25,000sq ft food shop (comparatively, the Waitrose in Hertford is 12,500 sq ft).
  • An extension to the Van Hage Garden centre.
  • A new roundabout junction to improve access to and from the site.
  • An improved car park which will increase the number of spaces with the potential for further spaces should demand require.


Van Hage

The new Waitrose investment will allow Van Hage to provide an improved offer for its customers, including a new 100-seater bistro café to provide a better service and modern facilities for a more enjoyable experience.

The existing external toilet block will be replaced to provide new toilet and customer welfare facilities inside the Van Hage store.

Van Hage will remain open during construction.

A refurbishment programme will be undertaken including a new lobby and front elevation.

The traditional Van Hage offerings of the miniature railway, farmers market, circus, ice rink and zoo will remain.


Waitrose

The new store will provide the latest Waitrose food and drink offer which will include meat, fish, cheese and patisserie counters as well as a coffee shop.

This will be set within a spacious, comfortable and attractive shopping environment.

A range of quality food and drink at competitive prices i.e. Waitrose is the same price as Tesco on all branded products, excluding promotions.

Our scan as you shop service, Waitrose Quick Check will be provided as well as online shopping through Waitrose.com.

Customer toilets will be included.

We will also offer the Waitrose Delivery Service where a customer can shop in branch and have their groceries delivered to their home.

Each Year Waitrose will donate £12,000 and 250 staff working hours each year to local causes nominated by customers.
