Acting at Mayhem

‘All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts’

Acting at Mayhem

Our range of Drama and Acting classes are designed to introduce and develop the skills required for both stage and screen performance. Students are encouraged to explore creativity by using their imaginations, thoughts and feelings to bring stories to life and portray characters. Classes start from 4 years, where the emphasis is on having fun, making friends and introducing the world of make believe through games and fantasy worlds. Students will discover empathy, spatial awareness, key communication skills and an appreciation of the spoken word, all whilst on a mission to Mars or a trek through the Jungle! Our senior classes focus on creating believable characters and working on a range of different texts from playwrights through the ages. Students gain an understanding of the power of drama and the endless different ways of performance. Class work includes; character building, voice, movement, text analysis, role play, sight reading and improvisation. Older students are equipped with the necessary skills to move on to full time professional training and careers in the performing arts should they so wish. Students are given a range of techniques for character creation, scene study and text analysis and work on bringing to life a range of material including classical and modern texts for public performance. Classes are active, challenging and fun. Students are regularly entered for LAMDA examinations which can help to gain UCAS points for university.
