To be inspired means everything…
Introducing the One:Five:Eight challenge Depending on ability a 8k route a 5k route or a fun 1k route can be ran that is all centred around your local town. You start and finish in the town and are welcomed back by a busy town filled by all that is great about your local area i.e. talent/business/food and information stations about everything the community has to offer from the council to colleges including apprenticeships etc.
We will use this as a platform to showcase all that can be gained from a community working together.
To be inspired means everything…
People can find inspiration in anything and in different things/situations. What inspires you? Does your local town inspire you? Does community inspire you? Do you take inspiration out of your town?
What does local mean to you? Is it a place to live? A place you visit? A place you grow? A place to wonder?
Answers may change, people change, and people move on, people come back. Community and whatever that personally means to you has always existed and will always exists.
It’s about asking questions, triggering thoughts and ideas and getting people to identify.
The town will be busy with stalls of local business’s serving food and displaying goods, local talent will be singing, dancing, telling jokes etc. Local councils will be at hand to bring awareness of what help and support is out there. Everyone is invited to run from your local fire brigade and postman to teachers and residents. We would request the towns shops to ‘bring the inside outside’ in an attempt to busy the streets with energy and atmosphere.
Conclusion
We at Give your town the run around are putting on an event that brings together health and community while supporting the local high street/business and good causes with in the borough that as a by-product will bring hope and investment to the community.
With everyone associated with this i.e. sponsors and patrons pulling together this has the potential to bring about change and inspire a new way of thinking that will bring continued hope.
With the vision I have, this will be like no other event ever seen in the borough and everyone associated can be a part of something new and unique.
